Hunter Biden has put down his paintbrush long enough to turn the “Laptop from Hell” scandal that dogged his father’s 2020 campaign into a cryptocurrency called $LAPTOP. Upon launching, the coin crashed 98 percent in its first hour of trading.
\n\nCoindesk reports that Biden posted “$LAPTOP September 9” on X, with a video referencing years of media coverage of the “Laptop from Hell” that he left at a Delaware repair shop. Sources cited by the Journal say the token will run on the Base blockchain, which operates under Coinbase Global.
\n\nThe coin began trading above $190 in its first few minutes, but then quickly crashed down to $2.15 as of this writing, a drop of more than 98 percent.
\n\nAccording to Coinbase, coins were distributed to market makers and an “unknown address” ahead of today’s launch:
