The Chicago White Sox got a message of support from one of their biggest fans ahead of beating the Astros in Game 1 of the American League wild-card series.
\n\nPope Leo XIV sent the missive on official Vatican stationery to the White Sox, which the team shared on social media hours before the American League Chicago team defeated Houston 6-3 at Daikin Park on Tuesday.
\n\nThe note was in response to a message Reinsdorf sent the Pontiff regarding “Pope Night” at Rate Field.

\n\nEvery fan in attendance received their own White Sox-themed Pope hat at that fan event. Originally pitched as an exclusive giveaway, it was destined only for the event but went on to gain so much popularity the team decided to gift all fans the promotional item.
