Foreign Minister of El Salvador Alexandra Hill Tinoco on Monday affirmed during her U.N. General Assembly speech that no country should be forced to accept collapse as its fate.

\n\nMonday marked El Salvador’s return to the U.N. General Assembly debates after a year-long absence. President Nayib Bukele, who criticized the U.N. in 2024 and 2023, skipped the 2025 high-level debates and sent no representative — deeming the assembly “pointless” in a social media post but nevertheless inviting people to watch a clip of his 2024 speech if they felt like “wasting time the way I did.”
